Privacy Policy

How we handle your personal information with care and in line with Malaysian law.

Last updated: 12 May 2025

Your privacy matters to us

Bijara is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can exercise your rights under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

1. Who We Are

Bijara is a financial education centre operating at Level 3, Setia City Mall, 7 Persiaran Setia Dagang, Setia Alam, 40170 Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. We provide general financial education programmes for new and expecting parents. We do not provide regulated financial advice.

For any privacy-related queries, you may contact us at [email protected] or call us at +60 3-3358 7126.

2. Personal Data We Collect

When you interact with us — through our website contact form, by telephone, in person, or when enrolling in a programme — we may collect the following categories of information:

  • Full name and preferred name
  • Email address and telephone number
  • Postal address (where relevant for programme correspondence)
  • Programme enrolment details and attendance records
  • Feedback and survey responses you choose to share
  • Technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited on our website
  • Cookie-related data as described in our Cookie Policy

We do not request or store sensitive personal data such as financial account numbers, identity card copies, or health information as part of our standard service delivery.

3. How We Use Your Information

We collect and process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Service delivery: to confirm enrolments, send programme materials, and manage your participation in workshops or courses
  • Communication: to respond to enquiries submitted via our contact form, telephone, or email
  • Administration: to maintain accurate records, process any applicable payments, and issue receipts or confirmations
  • Improvement: to review feedback and improve the quality and relevance of our programmes
  • Marketing (with consent): to share information about upcoming programmes or resources that may be of interest — only where you have given us consent to do so
  • Legal obligations: to comply with applicable Malaysian laws and regulatory requirements

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia), we rely on the following grounds to process your personal data:

  • Your consent, which you may withdraw at any time
  • Contractual necessity, where processing is needed to provide a programme you have enrolled in
  • Legitimate interests, such as responding to enquiries and improving our services, where these interests do not override your rights
  • Compliance with legal obligations applicable in Malaysia

5. Sharing of Personal Data

Bijara does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for commercial purposes.

We may share your data with trusted service providers who assist us in operating our website or delivering our programmes — for example, email communication platforms or payment processors. These parties are bound by confidentiality obligations and may only use your data to perform services on our behalf.

We may also disclose personal data where required by Malaysian law, court order, or regulatory authority.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Programme attendance records are generally retained for up to five years after your last interaction with us. Contact enquiry data is retained for up to two years unless an ongoing relationship exists.

You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 8 below), subject to any legal retention obligations.

7. Cookies and Website Data

Our website uses cookies to support basic functionality and to understand how visitors use our pages. Please refer to our Cookie Policy for a full explanation of the cookies we use and how to manage your preferences.

8. Your Rights Under the PDPA

As a data subject under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
  • Limit processing of your data in certain circumstances
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We aim to respond to all requests within 21 days.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or loss. Our website uses HTTPS encryption for data in transit. Access to personal data within our organisation is restricted to staff who require it to perform their duties.

While we take data security seriously, no system is entirely without risk. We encourage you to contact us promptly if you have any concerns about how your data is being handled.

10. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to external resources or third-party websites. This Privacy Policy applies only to the Bijara website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites and encourage you to review their policies independently.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
